Marquard, Free State, South Africa

Marquard is small town in the Eastern Free State and was founded in 1905. This small town is well known as a cherry and asparagus farming district and is a great agri-tourism destination. Most of the farms in the area have comfortable accommodation where guests can just relax and enjoy some farm life. Marquard is about 160km north-east of Bloemfontein and is reached by taking the N5 from the N1 and then turning onto the R708.

Marquard is a perfect getaway from city life and has numerous mountain bike trails to explore. Marquard's annual Koranna Two Mountain Cycle race is held in September. The town has a monument of stones to commemorate the Great Trek in 1938.
